Cookie policy

This policy explains how Readhem uses cookies and similar storage, in line with the ePrivacy rules and the GDPR.

1. What we use

Strictly necessary cookies. If you create an account or sign in, our authentication provider (Supabase) sets cookies so we can keep your session, refresh it securely, and prevent abuse. These cookies are required for the account to work. EU law does not require prior consent for cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for. You can still refuse them by not signing in, or by blocking cookies in your browser (the account features will then not work).

Typical names include cookies starting with sb- (Supabase session). They are first-party cookies on this site, usually lasting for the session or up to the provider’s refresh window (often a few weeks if you stay signed in).

2. What we do not use

We do not set analytics, advertising, or social-media tracking cookies. We do not use third-party marketing pixels. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent before any non-essential cookie is set.

3. Storage on your device that is not a cookie

• sessionStorage holds your place in a story (which line you reached, which choices you made) so a refresh does not lose the page. It stays in that browser tab session and is not sent to our servers.
• localStorage remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice (readhem:cookies-ack).

4. How to control this

Use your browser settings to delete or block cookies. Sign out from your account to end the session on this device. Clearing site data removes local reading progress.
